Spartan Foundation Announces Partnership with Leading Youth Charities

Please Donate $1 Today to Support A Healthier Future for Our Kids!

Kids are natural Spartans—they love running around, getting wet and muddy and rising to a challenge. But some kids need additional support to lead healthy lives. That’s why we’ve created the Spartan Foundation: To build improved health and fitness for America’s youth. The Spartan Foundation has partnered with some of America’s leading youth-oriented organizations to help make it possible for children of all abilities and backgrounds to lead the healthiest and fittest lives possible.

We’re pleased to share this update of our partner activities:

Shriners Hospitals for Children (SHC), reports that their kids, all with orthopedic conditions, had a blast running in the recent Spartan Kids Racein Houston. Payten, an 8-year-old patient, completed the course with her sister and reported that this was one of his best days ever! Fellow patient Deaken was so thrilled he actually made more work for his mom. She reports that Deaken is so incredibly proud of himself. I’ve washed his finisher shirt daily because he wants to wear it every day!

Jennifer Sutch, the SHC Director of Development said, Shriners Hospitals for Children is incredibly grateful to the Spartan Foundation and Spartan Race for providing our patients with this opportunity and for helping them know they can overcome any obstacle in their path. AROO!

Word of the fun is getting around: NASCAR racing legend Jimmie Johnson has invited us to partner with the Jimmie Johnson Foundation for the inaugural Jimmie Johnson Foundation Fit Fest in Fort Mill, SC. We’ll bring our Spartan Kids Race and the Special Spartans Heat to the inaugural Jimmie Johnson Fit Fest in Fort Mill, SC.

We love our Special Spartans Heat, which is why we’re excited to be partnering with Autism Speaks on May 13 at Citi Field in NY. As the first sponsor of the Special Spartans heat, Autism Speaks joins with Spartan Race to set the standard for children living on the autism spectrum to discover their athlete within in a safe, structured environment. Together, we’re working toward the goal of making it possible for every Special Spartan to compete without cost.

To understand just how important Special Spartans are to families, here’s what one dad had to say:

I can’t even begin to describe how awesome and important it is to have inclusive events such as Special Spartan Races. It gives those with special needs, such as my oldest son Jaden, a chance to experience life in new way that maybe they hadn’t experienced before. It gives them a sense of confidence like no other. My son Jaden has participated in two Special Spartan events now and has the most amazing experience every time. There is truly something magical that happens when a person with a disability can complete an event like a Special Spartan race. I will be a brand ambassador for them for life.

We are also partnering with the Special Olympics at our first event on Lambeau Field in Greenbay, WI. On June 24, in addition to a Spartan Sprint and a Spartan Kids Race with a Special Spartans heat, we will drive donations to the Special Olympics.

Everyone knows that Joe De Sena’s mission is to get everyone up and moving, and eating well is part of this philosophy. This is why Spartan Foundation has also partnered with internationally renowned chef and author Jamie Oliver for Jamie’s Food Revolution. He believes like we do that kids need to learn healthy eating early in order to avoid sugary snacks and the epidemic of obesity.

The Spartan Foundation is excited to partner with these renowned charitable organizations to support the health and fitness of the next generation,” said Joe De Sena, Spartan Race Founder and CEO. We look forward to many more activities with these partners in the months and years ahead. I urge each of you to donate at least $1 today to support the important work of the Spartan Foundation.
