Cerus Announces CerusRuk 2019

December 20, 2018

“Cerus really prides ourselves on being innovators. When we first envisioned our Ruk race we wanted something gritty, tough, and challenging that had never been done before in OCR.

Loveland, CO (December 20th, 2018) - Cerus Fitness is bringing back CerusRuk in May 11 th , 2019 in a big way. CerusRuk was first unveiled in May 2018- setting itself apart as the first obstacle race that required competitive racers to haul (or Ruck) a weight through the obstacle course and obstacles themselves.

“Cerus really prides ourselves on being innovators. When we first envisioned our Ruk race we wanted something gritty, tough, and challenging that had never been done before in OCR. When you boil the format down it’s essentially a 5-mile heavy carry throughout the course of an obstacle race. It’s incredibly challenging for those who want to test their limits on a shorter length course.” Said Chris Johnson, the owner of Cerus Fitness.

Though competitive racers are required to carry 20-30lbs (20 Female/30 Male), recreational racers have no weight requirements and can approach the race as a normal OCR with or without a pack weight.

In 2019, several changes have been made to the race and its format:

  • Number of obstacles increased to 20+

  • Introducing a new team format: competitive racers each compete individually while contributing to their team’s score

  • Cash prizes for competitive male and female individuals

  • Coach Pain will host the event and then introduce the “Sinister Pain Evolution” bootcamp at the end of the race.

Cerus also announced that both it’s races in 2019 will now be NORAM and OCRWC qualifiers:

“We’re excited to be working with Adventurey who hosts such phenomenal events. This year CerusRuk and CerusLuv will send qualifiers to their North American and World Championships.” Said Chris

Fresh off the heels of 5 award nominations, becoming an international qualifier, and innovating on exciting new race formats- a number of exciting things are happening at Cerus Fitness.
